The 18th Annual British Curry Awards was held on Monday 28th November 2022 at
Evolution London. The highly regarded event on the Hospitality Calendar, where
Britain’s most innovative and critically acclaimed Curry Establishments are
announced at the prestigious star-studded ceremony.
Lalbagh Restaurant, Bourn was shortlisted for the Restaurant of the Year Award for
the East Midlands category.


The popular restaurant is not shy of an award or two and has a reputation for great
food and service, set in a converted pub in the village of Bourn.
On the night, Lalbagh pipped the other shortlisted restaurant from Cambridge; Prana
and won the Finalist Award. Lalbagh co-owner; Miftaur Chowdhury was featured on
the big screen; which also played a message from Prime Minister; Rishi Sunak.
Co-owner; Mumitur Choudhury (Miton) was accompanied by his family on the night
when he collected the Finalist Award.


“Thank you all for the tremendous support. We are not coming home empty-handed.
We’re bringing back the British Curry Awards Finalist Award. It’s an honour to be
recognised amongst the best establishments in Great Britain. Our aim was to represent
our amazing community and make everyone proud”


Messages of support flooded in from customers on social media and by email and a
video message from co-owner Miftaur was posted on Instagram from Qatar, where he
was watching a world cup match.


Jeffrey Ali, director of the British Curry Awards, said: “The British Curry Awards 2022
marks the first year without our Founder, the late Enam Ali MBE. For decades, he
tirelessly dedicated his life towards promoting and championing the UK Curry
Industry, cementing The British Curry Awards as an ‘institution’.
